Project Overview

Black Hollow Solar, located in Colorado, is one of our most ambitious solar energy projects to date. Spanning 2,100 acres, this site will feature a 250 MW solar farm capable of powering tens of thousands of homes. Scheduled to come online in the spring of 2025, the Black Hollow Solar project will play a pivotal role in the region’s shift toward renewable energy.

Scope of Work

The project involved moving a massive 1.2 million yards of earth to prepare the site for solar panel installation. In addition to earth-moving, our team constructed 15 miles of access roads to ensure efficient and safe transportation of materials and equipment. This aspect of the project required significant logistical planning and coordination.

Challenges & Solutions

With such a large site, one of the key challenges was maintaining consistent and high-quality grading across the entire 2,100-acre expanse. Black Mountain Excavation addressed this by utilizing advanced equipment and technology to achieve precision in grading and earth movement.

The construction of the 15 miles of road was also critical to ensuring that all infrastructure could be safely accessed. Our team developed a detailed road plan that accounted for varying terrain and environmental factors, ensuring smooth progress throughout the project.

Timeline & Budget

The Black Hollow Solar project is progressing as planned, with the team on track to complete the work on time and on budget. The project is expected to meet its 2025 completion date, marking another milestone in Black Mountain Excavation’s history of delivering successful projects.

Impact & Future

Once operational, Black Hollow Solar will generate significant renewable energy for the region, contributing to the community’s long-term sustainability goals. The project serves as a prime example of Black Mountain Excavation’s commitment to delivering large-scale projects with precision and efficiency, while supporting the growing need for clean energy infrastructure.
